This is an authentic, extremely rare Vice President Nelson Rockefeller Gift Box given by Rockefeller to the wife of a trusted staffer who worked in the White House. T
he heavy, richly appointed box measures approx. 6.75" x 5.0" x 3.0" and weighs more than 1.5 pounds. Made of dark wood and topped with a bold Vice Presidential Seal in bronze, the visually compelling box features a felted bottom and navy blue velvet lining on the top and bottom of the interior space. The very unique box is in excellent vintage condition, but does show wear consistent with age and use -- notably on the top exterior of the box. It would benefit from gentle wood polish, but this decision is left to the buyer. The box reflects solid construction, with a fully functional hinge and perfect lid-to-body fit. These boxes were ordered by the Vice President in extremely limited quantity, and they are exceedingly difficult to find as a result.
