Description
As noted in Earl J. Coates article in the Company of Military Historian Magazine, The Federal Army had been using leather canteen slings since the war of 1812, and was manufactured at the Philadelphia Depot, until the winter of 1862. It is not to say that all stocks were exhausted when manufacturing halted, but certainly no addtional ones were produced after that point. Our reproduction is of 5/8" wide natural bridle leather, with a leather "safe" behind the roller buckle.
