    Description

    For sale is a beautiful Civil War dress made by a historic seamstress with a lace collar and cotton under sleeves included.  My sales receipt lists a bust of 40-1/2 inches, waist 35-1/2, waist to hem 40 inches in front and 41 in back.  This should be worn with a proper corset and hoop or crinoline.  The fabric is a 100% cotton quilting print from Benartex with a tan background and purple flowers.  The pagoda sleeves are lined and the bodice and sleeves are decorated with ruched iridescent moire ribbon.  The neck, waist, back seams and armscyes are piped for extra strength as was done at that time.  There is also boning in the bodice and seams are sewn in the period appropriate manner with seams showing on the inside.  Edges are finished.  The hem has a dust panel and is bound with wool hem tape.  There is at least 5 yards of fabric in the skirt.  This is a beautiful dress!  I cannot see any wear or tears, but there is a small brown spot on the skirt (probably coffee) which may come out.  I would not recommend putting this dress in the dryer.  I hate selling this, but I’ll never be that thin again.  It was only worn a couple of times.
